From being a Janitor to going to an Ivy League College

http://www.cnn.com/2012/06/07/us/from-janitor-to-harvard/index.html?hpt=us_t3

This story is a great example of a girl who is definitely going to succeed in life, no matter what obstacles might just being her down. Dawn Loggins is a straight-A student who was abandoned by her drug abusing parents and who next year will be attending an Ivy League college. She works as the one of the janitors of her school in the morning, before students attend and later on attends as a senior to school. It's sad seeing that a girl like this has to go through such sad situations when her parents could have been able to leave their drugs and focus the importance of having a daughter like Dawn. I think its great she's a smart student who is still wanting to achieve something in life after her abandonment.

A Child Playing Dead

http://news.yahoo.com/11-old-played-dead-survive-syria-massacre-200513272.html;_ylt=Ajw8WsceWrCh.TXbWO2w.zOs0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTNsZm9xcXM5BG1pdANUb3BTdG9yeSBGUARwa2cDMzEwMjZhMjYtOTYyOC0zZjFiLWFjOWEtMWQyYzZkODQyY2Y5BHBvcwMxBHNlYwN0b3Bfc3RvcnkEdmVyA2MwMGI1NGUzLWFiMzUtMTFlMS1iNWZkLTU1N2U1Y2Q3NGEzMw--;_ylg=X3oDMTFlamZvM2ZlBGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDBHBzdGNhdAMEcHQDc2VjdGlvbnM-;_ylv=3

A eleven year old boy named Ali el-Sayed had to soak himself in his dead brother's blood to survive the Syria massacre. As the gunmen began to slaughter his family, Ali states how he fell to the ground and felt as if he had also died. I think that children should stop getting hurt emotionally and physically because of the actions of others.  There was more than 100 people killed, stabbed or shot in the Syria massacre. Ali el-Sayed is now an orphan and an only child.

Adam Mayes is a coward

http://www.cnn.com/2012/05/11/justice/tennessee-missing-children/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

Adam Mayes killed himself as the police approached him in the woods, having the 2 kidnapped girls on their stomachs watching. I think he's a coward for not owning up to being the murderer of their mother and oldest sister. Instead when he knew they caught him in the run(hiding) he shot himself. I think its awful how he left 2 young girls without a mother and a loving older sister.

Review: "Oedipus the King"

http://classics.mit.edu/Sophocles/oedipus.html

I recently read this play "Oedipus the King" by a famous philosopher, Sophocles. It was quite interesting and showed us "Oedipus" as the tragic hero. From the beginning he was destined by the Oracle Apollo to kill his father and marry his mother, and throughout the play we read how Oedipus does everything in his power to runaway from fate and do everything but that. Throughout the play, it shows us dramatic irony in where the audience knows something the character doesn't and is yet to find out. Oedipus, sadly fulfills the prophecy and does everything it said. Oedipus in the end can't withhold all the pain, shame and disgust and so blinds himself my taking out his eyes with his mother's/wife's  brooches(pins). I think this was a great play everyone should read because it held great meaning.

This New Blog

Creating this new blog was something I have never done before. I have never created something public under my name and it was something fun in journalism to do. I guess creating this blog felt kind of journalistic, if you can put it that way.
